A WALK TO REMEMBER!!! CAMEL’S BACK ROAD (MUSSOORIE)
Jan 21, 2014
Mussoorie, the land of a perfect mixture of mist, clouds and the disembodied ghostly pine branches is a treat for every visitor. Everyone knows about the beauty of the place, its glossy roads, the golden lamps which stretches out their neck pondering upon every visitor passing by, the warmth of the local people trying to bid away the cold with a cup of “garam chai” and “garam bhutta” (Corn). Well, all of these together makes Mussoorie a must visit for every traveler. But once you are here and enjoying all the conventional tourist places, we would certainly advise you to take out time for a walk in the lap of nature: “a walk to be remembered”!
We are speaking about the “Camel’s Back Road”. It is a delightful 4km stretch which starts near the library and ends at Kulri Bazzar. The name “Camel’s Back Road” does sound a bit weird, right? Well, this place got its name from the natural outcrop of rocks here, which is shaped like a Camel’s Hump. This is an ideal place where one can soak into the beauty of the hills, the paranomic view of the distant Gangotri Mountain, the surrounding fog, the chill in the breeze, and nothing but the silence of nature enwrapping you in its blanket. It is a guarantee that once you visit this place, you will crave to visit it once again. Walking through these lanes makes one feel like travelling into a surreal world. It is a place for a perfect romantic walk with your partner, while appreciating the wonders of nature, avoiding the buzz and the loud, busy roads of the mall. There are also benches adjacent to the road, you can sit here and watch how the mountain changes its colour from its brilliant shades of gold changing slowly into the shades of orange and red at sunset, while sipping your cup of coffee (there are few road side food vendors here). In case you want to give your tired legs some rest you can also opt for the option on a horse ride on your way back. Thus anyone in search of tranquility in the air, peace, the chance to ponder upon how beautiful the life is should and must make a visit to the “Camel’s Back Road”.
HUNGRY KYA??
Well, this entire nature hike does make one really hungry. Well, if it’s the same case with you, then don’t wait any longer and head straight to the “Chaar Dukaan” at Landour. The name “Chaar Dukaan” as there has always been four dhaba-cum-provision shops here! Here give your empty stomach a treat. Feast upon the tasty parathas, the hot spiced up Maggi noodles or you can even give a try to the tasty pancakes served with even tastier maple syrup!
Well, all these certainly cannot be missed upon and all these together certainly makes Mussoorie a place which makes it one of the first few “must visit destination” in every traveler’s list.
