Being a very small hill station, Yelagiri has very limited tourist attractions. The main tourist destination is the Swamimalai Hill which is frequently trekked by the visitors.
Punganoor Lake
The artificial manmade Punganoor Lake is the major tourist attraction in Yelagiri Hills. It is a nice place for nature lovers to spend few hours, enjoy some bird watching and boating in the lake. The lake was constructed to attract tourists and increase the footfall so that people living in the area can earn their livelihood. The nearby floriculture garden is also a great place to see a variety of flowers. Kids can thoroughly enjoy some fun rides in this garden.
Swamimalai Hill
The highest hill peak at Yelagiri is the Swamimalai hill. Climbing this hill is the most adventurous activity for all the trekkers in Yelagiri. The length of this trek is around 6 km and the views from the top of the hill are so beautiful that they cannot be described in words. The trekking route to the Swamimalai hill gives you ample opportunities to enjoy the scenic beauty of the place.
Velavan Temple
Velavan Temple is situated on the highest peak of the Yelagiri hills and is dedicated to Lord Murugan (son of Lord Shiva). It is one of the most important religious places in the area and holds a great value in the heart of devotees. Huge numbers of devotees gather in this temple to have celebrations during the months of July and August.
Other than this, there are other attractions like Herbal farm and nature’s park, which are worth visiting.
