Sri Govindarajaswami Temple
Sri Govindarajaswami Temple

Built in the traditional architectural style of Vaishnava sect the temple is an important shrine in Tirupati. It is believed that Ramanuja laid the foundation stone of this temple in 1235. In addition to the Gopuram, there are two other shrines of Lord Parthasarathy and idol of Lord Govindaraja that are encircled with two outer walls.

At a distance of about 5 km. in Tiruchanoor from the Tirumala Hills houses the temple of Goddess Padmavathi, who was the wife of Lord Venkateshwara. It is believed that devotees should first visit this temple before offering prayers at the main temple of Lord Venkateshwara.

It is the exclusive Lord Shiva shrine in Tirumala region, situated just about 3 km. from Tirupati. The Kapila and the Alwar Teertham are also located in the same temple complex.

Swami Pushkarini Lake

Nestled inside the main premises of the Lord Venkateshwara Temple has a great religious connotation. This is also acknowledged as the holy lake of Vaikunta, where God Vishnu used to take a dip with his wife. The holy pond is believed to clean all evils and sins of the people.
 

The Vari Museum

The Museum is located in the town, and tourists can see the beautiful images, artefacts, scriptures, statutes and figurines that portrays the history of the main temple.

Akasha Ganga Teertham
Akasha Ganga Teertham

This is popular waterfall, situated 5 km. from the main temple of Lord Venkateswara. It is believed that the theertham or pilgrimage initiates from the lotus feet of the main deity. The best time for visiting this place is during the rainy season, when the waterfall cascades down with full fervour.

There are few other temples like Iskon Tirupati, Sri Kodandaramaswami Temple, Sri Bedi Anjaneyaswami Temple and few others which can also be visited in the holy town of Tirupati.
