It is one of the famous temples in North Kerala. It is also known as one of the oldest and legendary Hindu Temples in Kerala.
This 74 km. long river has 3 major tributaries like Thottilpalam Puzha, Vamathil Puzha and the Mandapalli Puzha.
· Thistemple is dedicated to Goddess Durga. The festival ‘Poorakkali’ is celebratedwith great enthusiasm here between March and April.

The shore is a natural habitat for the endangered species like Olive Ridley Turtles. It is one of the must visit places at Payyoli.
· Although a small museum, Kunjali Marrakar Museum houses a wonderful collection of cannon balls, knives and swords. The museum is maintained by the State Archaeology Department.
