Mehrangargh Fort
This imposing, massive 500 year old unconquered fort occupying a 150 m hill was built by Rao Jodha in 1458. It is the largest fort of Rajasthan boasting of about 3 km. of massive ramparts around it. It features Moti Mahal (Pearl coloured interiors decorated with coloured glass windows), Sheesh Mahal, Phool Mahal, Zenana Deodi (the chamber for queens decorated with delicate sandstone Jalis and carvings) and Chamunda Temple. Besides, there are few other temples, a museum, a TURBAN gallery and beautiful gardens.
Bal Samand Lake and Palace
From the city this, artificial lake is a picture postcard picnic spot consisting of a bird sanctuary and summer palaces on the banks.
Jaswant Thada
The royal cenotaphs in marble built next to a little lake are about 3 km. downhill from Merangarh fort.
Kherala Fort
Located about 85 km. towards Jaipur is a magnificent 400 year old red sandstone fort depicting the splendid Rajput architecture with its beautiful lattice work and intricate jharokas. This fort is now converted to a heritage hotel and is worth a visit.
Kailana Lake (Kaylana Lake)
This is a popular picnic spot about 11 km. from Jodhpur. Though not good for swimming, it is an ideal place for enjoying sunset, boating and birds.
Umaid Bhavan Palace
The present royal family resides, to the south of the city. It is partially converted to a five-star hotel and also has a museum.
Guda Bishnoi
The villages of the Bishnoi community renowned for being great conservationists of the local flora and fauna are located about 15 km. from the city.
