Vittala Temple
A unique masterpiece of architecture, this temple was built in 15th century A.D. Standing on a vast compound, it has many pavilions, halls, and temples located within the premise. Vittala is a form of Lord Vishnu and the locals worshipped him as the cult deity. The most impressive sites are the carved pillared halls and the famous stone chariot.
Hampi Bazaar
The street on which the Virupaksha temple stands is the Hampi bazaar. The rows of shops constructed on either side of the street sell all local goods in most tempting packages. There are single and double storied pavilions on this street of ancient days.
Mahanavmi Dibba
Vijayanagar emperors took their seat here and ruled the kingdom. The kings used to sit on gem studded golden throne and catch glimpses of the religious and imperial processions. This gigantic structure features carvings of soldiers, horses and other royal characters.
Monolith Bull
Locally known as Yeduru Basavanna, it is a structure of Nandi, the ride of Lord Shiva. It stands at the end of Hampi bazaar like a guard on a high platform.
Matanga Hill
Matanga Hill has a mention in the great epic Ramayana as the hermitage of Saint Matanga. This hill gives a magnificent view of Hampi aerially. Viewing sunrise and sunset atop the Matanga Hill is an ethereal experience.
Queen Bath
It is a rectangular building of Islamic architecture, having an adjacent veranda with a tank 6 feet depth. This tank was always filled with perfumed water, where the king and his wives had their bath. The tank was in a remote corner of the kingdom to prevent strangers walking in.
Other attractions of Hampi are Gagan Mahal, elephant stables, Zenana Enclosure, Sacred Centre, Badavi Linga (big Shivaling) and a host of beautiful temples including Chandrasekhara temple, Pattabhirama temple, Hazara Ramachandra and The Krishna temple.
