Bala Quila
· Constructed on a 300m steep height, ithas a close connotation with the rules of the Mughals. Bala Quila tells manytales about the might and valor of the Rajput rulers. Extended over a vastarea, the fort has many beautiful mansions and minarets. To reach this place, permissionfrom Superintendent of Police, Alwar is essential.
City Palace and Museum
The palace architecture finely blends the Mughal and Rajasthan styles. Located just below the fort, the palace was built by Raja Vinay Singhand today it stands as a resonant of its bygone glorious days. The ground floor is the 18th century monument, now government offices and the upper floor is the city museum. The Durbar hall and Women’s chamber are beautifully carved, extended to a small room with spectacular frescos. iThe museum is divided into three sections, where the royal treasures of the former Alwar rulers are displayed, notable one being the Mahabharata description on a big scroll and the manuscripts of Shahnama and Gulistan. It’s open from 10 am to 5 pm (except Fridays and holidays).
Moti Doongri
Located near Alwar, this place is especially famous for its classic palace, the Lakshmi Narayan and Ganesh temples. The palace is situated atop was initially a fortress, later was renovated by Sawai Man Singh II and used as the residence of the Rajmatha, Gayathri Devi. The architecture resembles a Scottish castle and being a private property of the royal family, entry of the public is not allowed. The nearby Birla Mandir is also one of the attractions of Alwar.
Clock Tower
This lofty monument stands as a royal memory of the olden Rajput reign near the bustling Church Road. One can actually catch the best view of the city and its surroundings from this tower.
Jai Samand Lake
A popular picnic spot and the second largest artificial lake in Asia, the banks have shaded avenues and tall towers. The monuments have lotus shaped bases. The beautiful green island amidst the lake is a treat to eyes. Activities like angling and other water spots attract tourists here.
Moosi Maharani ki Chhatri
This monument in the form of royal memorial of Maharaja Bakhtawar Singh and his Queen Rani Moosi. This is a double storied structure built by Raja Vinay Singh on a pillared sand stone. Beautiful interiors with vibrant wall paintings are worth a visit added with the picturesque locale of the chhatri.
