The must visit places in Almora are places of scenic beauty and temples, some of which include
Nanda Devi Temple
Revered as the most powerful Goddess and worshipped as the protector of good and destroyer of evil by the people of Kumaon and Garhwal, the temple is one of the prime attractions of Almora. Fairs are also organized in honour of this Goddess Nanda.
Chitai Temple
This is a temple for Lord Shiva or Lord Gollu(as locals call). People not only come here to pray, but tourists also have an attraction here. The temple is full of hanging bells that are hung by devotees as a sign of thanksgiving for the fulfilment of a wish or as a prayer.
Kasar Devi Temple
This 2nd century temple is about 5 km. away from Almora and overlooks the Hawabagh valley. Many people consider it to be a picnic spot as well.
Katarmal Sun Temple
Second to the Konark Sun temple, this religious site is about 800 years old. This temple though dilapidated in sections, is an interesting place owing to its unique architectural forms.
Bright End Corner
Sightseeing in Almora is incomplete without a visit to the Bright End Corner. People flock to this place to witness the sunrise and sunset in the backdrop of the mountains.
GobindVallabh Pant Museum
This museum houses part of the history, culture and archaeology of this place. Precious articles of the Chand and Katyuri dynasties along with folk style paintings make for an interesting observation in the museum.
Other attractions include Binsar and Jageshwar that are quite close to this place.
