Gandhi Ashram
Located in the Vadaj area of Ahmedabad, Gandhi Ashram established in 1915, was the abode of Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi Ashram was the starting point of Gandhiji’s famous ‘Dandi March’. It is the most famous tourist attraction of Ahmedabad.
Heritage Houses
The heritage houses (200-400 years old) are located in the old city in the original neighbourhoods of the city. The families residing in these houses are considered original Amdavadis. The architecture and craftsmanship of the Havelis is very intricate and beautiful.
Juma Masjid
Juma Masjid was constructed by Ahmed Shah in the year 1423. The structure is made of sandstone and is a must visit place in Ahmedabad because of the visible influence of Indo-Islam architecture on the building.
Jhulta Minar (Shaking Minarets)
The famous ‘shaking minarets’ are located in the Sidi Bashir Mosque near the Sarangpur Gate outside the old city.
Calico Textile Museum
It is a world famous textile museum located in one of the heritage houses (havelis). Calico Museum has a fantastic collection of not just textiles but also of antique furniture, temple artefacts, etc.
Hussain-ni-Gufa
This is an architectural structure with murals painted on its walls by the world renowned painter M. F. Hussain. There is a cafe outside of it where you can relax with a glass of cold coffee.
