Devidhura,which lies approximately 45 kms from Lohaghat,near Abbott Mount has the distinction of a unique stone pelting festival.
Much like Pandhurna tehsil of Chhindwara district were hundreds of people get injured in the century-oldannual traditional Got Mar festival in which stones are pelted ,Devidhura,situated at distanceof 45 kms from Lohaghat in the Champawat district of Uttarakhand also celebrates its unique stone pelting festival. The festival attracts people from not only Kumaon but also from Nepal, and even other places.The festival is held every year at the temple of Barahi Devi on Raksha Bandhan .
The festival is also deeply rooted in the mythology according to which , Bhima(one of the five Pandavas of epic Mahabharat), had killed a demon at this place.This stone-pelting festival according to the local beliefs marks Bhima's triumph over evil.
