Tawang War Memorial
Constructed as per the design of a stupa, the Tawang War Memorial is a multi-hued structure, 40 feet in height, which is dedicated to the 1962 Sino-India war martyrs. Situated among the gorgeous peaks overlooking the Tawang valley, the memorial has names of 2,420 slain soldiers etched in gold on about 32 plaques composed of black granite.
Tawang Monastery
The biggest monastery in Asia, the Tawang Monastery, belongs to the Mahayana sect. The second oldest monastery in the world dating back by about 400 years, the Tawang Monastery controls more than 17 different Gompas in the area. The monastery is able to accommodate almost 600 monks.
Sela Pass
With an elevation of 13,714 feet, the Sela Pass is one of the most visited areas in Arunachal Pradesh. The pass remains completely covered by snow during the winter.
Urgelling Gompa
The first of three different monasteries constructed by Urgen Sangpo, the Urgelling Gompa has stood in the region of Tawang since the 14th century. It is considered to be the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama.
