In the state of Karnataka comes a quaint island destination—Netrani (or Nethrani). When seen from a height, you will feel that the island is heart shaped. The place is popularly known as Pigeon Island as well and is one of the best sites in the country for scuba diving. This is one of the most popular tourist places in the state being located in close proximity to Bangalore, Mumbai and Goa. Situated near the holy city of Murudeshwar, the coral island is also an ideal location for diving activities and snorkelling.

You can find a large variety of triggerfish, butterfly fish, eels, parrotfish and shrimps at Netrani. One of the most popular tourist hubs in South India, Netrani Island should not be visited from June to September during Monsoons to enjoy full beauty of the place. During these months, the sea is rough and diving is not permitted. The island is good for people who like to snorkel and dive professionally. However, you need permission to indulge in these activities from the concerned authorities.
Being a small island,there are no restuarants or eating joints in Netrani.Thus one is advised to have a wholesome meal before going to Netrani.
