With the spectacular backdrops of snow-clad Himalayas and unspoilt charm, Pankang Teng Tso is a stunning natural lake near Tawang. Tourists visiting the lake are mesmerized by the most engaging facets of nature and an invincible silence that let them have direct dialogue with the heavens. Along the road from Tawang to the lake, one can enjoy the breathtaking greenery and beautiful rhododendrons.
The lake gets its name from Pankang tree which was once found in abundance in the region. It can be accessed only in summers and its water freezes during winters. Located close to the Indo-Tibetan border, the place registers the presence of the Indian Army which also takes the responsibility to maintain the lake.

Road:
Located about 17 km. from the picturesque town of Tawang, the lake can be accessed in taxis and shared jeeps. The road connecting the two destination promises an amazing journey with multi-hued vegetations all around. Tawang is accessible from major cities of Northeast India by bus services and taxis.
Railway:
The closest railway stations to Tawang are at Tezpur (about 395 km.) and Rangapara (about 381 km.). Taxis and jeeps can be hired from these stations to directly reach the lake. Alternatively, you can board a bus to Tawang and continue the journey in a jeep or taxi.
Airway:
The airport at Tezpur, about 385 km. from Tawang, is the closest airport for the lake. Again, you can hire taxis from the airport to reach Tawang and the lake.
