A proud member of the World Associations of Zoos and Aquariums, the Nandankanan Zoological Park encompasses a zoo and a botanical garden. The area of 400 hectare is home to over 1,600 animals representing more than 120 species and amazing flora spread over different gardens.
Among the top exhibits at the park are the white tigers, Asiatic lions, crocodilians and many other species of mammals, reptiles and birds. Many popular spots within the park include Reptile Park, Deer Park, Water Bird Aviary, Aquaria and Nocturnal House. Kanjia Lake and Kiakani Lake add to the park’s exquisite charm. The botanical garden features Mughal Garden, Japanese Garden, Rose Garden, Evolution Garden, Orchid House and many more.
The most intriguing activities at the park include aerial ropeway ride, boating, white tiger safari, lion safari, toy train ride and a visit to the nature interpretation centre. Tourists need to shell out extra money for booking the picnic areas within the park. The park justifies its name’s literal meaning – the Garden of Heavens.
