Every place associated with Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, better known as Mahatma Gandhi and Father of the Nation, has special significance for the people of India. Kaba Gandhi No Delo (meaning Kaba Gandhi’s Residence) is a traditional house that belonged to Gandhi’s father Karamchand Gandhi, better known as Kaba Gandhi. Built in 1880, the house was inhabited by young Gandhi along with his family from 1881 to 1887 when his father served as Prime Minister to the local king.
It is a typical Saurashtra house with arched gateway, a black gate a small courtyard where Gandhi would play during his childhood days. Today, the house serves as a museum displaying photographs portraying different events of Gandhi’s life and journey. Personal items and belongings of the greatest Indian leader are also put on display in the museum. History lovers can definitely extract a lot from the trip to this museum.
