Pure magnificence written on white marble forming a beautiful contrast with the green shade of the surroundings! Dilwara Temples are the iconic representatives of architectural perfection located near Mount Abu (the only hill station in the desert state of Rajasthan). When at these five temples, you are continuously surrounded by richly carved ceilings, doorways, halls, panels and pillars, something you must have not experienced before.
Five Diwlara temples include Vimal Vasahi Temple, Luna Vasahi, Pithalhar, Parshvanath Temple and Mahavir Swamy Temple are the Dedicated to different Jain Tirthankaras, these were built by the Chalukya Rulers from 11th to 13th centuries. Built in Nagara Architecture style, these temples are among the most honoured Jain pilgrimage sites in the whole world. Apart from the main sections, other must-visit parts of these temples include Rang Mandap, Nav Chowki and Hastishala.
Photography and cell phones are strictly prohibited at these temples. Visitors must dress up in decent clothes and maintain good code of conduct at these religious places.
Connectivites
Road:
Dilwara Temples boast of good road connectivity with all major towns and cities of Rajasthan. A journey in bus or taxi is indeed spellbinding as you pass through the rugged terrain and lavish greenery of Aravalli Hills.
Railway:
Those travelling by rail need to board a train to Abu Road Railway Station which is about 29 km. from the temples. Taxis are available at the station to follow the road leading to the temples.
Airway:
Udaipur Airport is located about 178 km. from the temples and serves as the closest air access point. Taxis connect the airport with the temples, promising a wonderful trip
