That beauty may be lethal is best proved by what is called the Devil’s Kitchen, about 8 km. from the hill resort of Kodaikanal. Known by many names like Guna Caves (after a Tamil movie Guna shot here), Pillar Rocks and Green Valley View, the place is only for the daredevils. Nature lovers can relish the beauty of this place, but they need to be extremely careful.
Devil’s Kitchen resides as chambers between the 3 gigantic boulders that form Pillar Rocks. The dangerously deep ravine is infested with bats and offer spectacular views of Mother Nature. However, what appear as small gutters may prove to be death traps. Photography is one great activity that will let you capture some remarkable shots of the unbound splendour.
Be sure to have footwear with excellent grip while climbing to reach the spot. Begin early and leave before evening as it becomes difficult to locate routes in the dark. It is better to hire a guide for this thrilling expedition.
