Located in Kothamangalam Taluk of Ernakulam district in Kerala ,Thattekad Bird Sanctuary on the northern banks of the Periyar river is a home to some of the rarest species of birds in IndiaThis beautiful sanctuary is situated at Njayqapilli peak. The sanctuary was established in year 1983 and has more than 300 recorded species of forest and water birds which also include some migratory birds.Most noteable among the birds found here include large falcon, white breasted water hen,gray jungle fowl, jungle bush-quail and hornbill.

Itinerary Details

Day by Day itineraryDay 1: Cochin - Thattekkad (Bird Sanctuary) [50 Kms/1 hr]

Upon arrival at Cochin Airport/Railway station, our representative shall meet you and assist you in transfer to Thattekkad.Upon arrival at Thattekad, Check in at a hotel. Thattekkad located on the banks of the Periyar River is a very scenic place. Rest of the day is free for local sightseeing & bird Watching.You can also undertake boating, trekking, mountain biking. Also, you can visit an Elephant Training Centre and indulge into Jeep Safari. Later return back to hotel for dinner & Overnight stay at resort.

Day 2: Thattekkad - Thekkady (Wildlife sanctuary) [140 Kms/04 hrs]

After an early breakfast drive to Thekkady. On your way enjoy beautiful streams and small water falls, Rubber, Pepper cardamom and Tea plantations and thick forests, God has blessed his own country with incomparable beauty. Upon arrival at Thekkady, check-in into the hotel. Dinner & Overnight stay at Hotel.

Day 3: Periyar

After enjoying breakfast at hotel experience the mind blowing view of calm crystal clear Periyar Lake, whistles of birds and murmurings of wild animals. In the afternoon relax in the hotel or go for a spice plantation tour or experience the Ayurveda massage.You can also view a Kathakali show or Kalari Pattu show in the evening.Later reach the back hotel. Enjoy dinner & Overnight stay in Thekkady.

Day 4: Periyar – Cochin [190 Kms/5 hrs]

After breakfast checks out from Hotel and on time, transfer to Cochin Airport/Railway station for onward journey.

Thanks to Waytoindia for 10 day in Rajasthan- Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur, Mount Abu and Ahmedabad. Everything from pickup from Jaipur airport to drop at Ahmedabad airport was very smooth. The hotels booked in Jaipur and Udaipur were amazing. In Jaisalmer the camel ride and Jeep safari though a bit expensive was a good experience. The car and the driver for the entire 10 days was very good. Thanks to the driver Mahesh, who drove the 2 ladies for the entire 10 days safely and dropped us in time for the return flight to Bangalore.
