India Continues to Strengthen Position as Business Travel Destination, Also Enjoys Growth in Domestic Air Travel

The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) affirmed the reports at the recently concluded seminar at ITB Asia held in Singapore. According to the association, India is currently the second fastest growing business travel market in Asia, next only to China. It is noteworthy that India has drastically improved its rank from 24 in 2000 to 10 in 2013 in the list of top global business travel markets. Considering the annual growth rate of 11% in this direction, India is expected to gain position among top 5 markets soon.
The country is performing at the domestic front as well as indicated by the domestic air travel reports for the month of September. If the statistics are to be believed, there was an impressive growth of more than 26% in the month as compared to September 2013. The report comes from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) which credits the price stimulations introduced by the air carriers in the market.
