USTOA Explores India’s Potential as Fast Emerging Tourism Destination
It happened after the gap of 20 years that The United States Tour Operators Association (USTOA) selected India as their venue for the annual out-of-country Board of Directors meeting. The purpose was to explore the significantly boosted image of the country as a tourism hub. The meeting that ended on March 31 evaluated the country’s tourism industry which is fast building its stronghold on the world tourism map.
The 36 participants in the meeting showed huge interest in harnessing the reputation that India has gained over all these decades. According to the study and surveys conducted by the USTOA, the country ranks at third position in the list of fast emerging tourism hubs. India’ rich cultural and heritage treasures, diverse topography, natural beauty and wildlife expeditions are among the top factors that contribute in this direction. In addition, the country’s centuries old arts and cuisines too work in its favor. India has also gained limelight with a number of adventures and adventure tours across its length and breadth.
The representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India claimed the US inbound tourists among the most frequent visitors to the top destinations across the country. In their words, India’s tourism industry is working in the right direction to offer the most extraordinary experience to the travelers. The tourism based bilateral relationships between the two countries is expected to boost with such meetings and interest sharing.
Established in 1972 and based in New York, USTOA aims at highest degree of professionalism among the tour operators. The association works for safeguarding the interests of the consumers as well as the travel agents.
