Tulip Festival of Srinagar – Watch Magnificence at Full Bloom
Delicacy and purity find new dimensions at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden where countless tulip tubes in all sorts of vivacious colours adorn nearly 12 hectare of beautiful landscape. Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir is the proud host of Asia’s largest tulip expanse where the annual Tulip festival is organized every April. Nothing can surpass the delight of relishing the assorted colours of spring at one place.
Tulip Festival 2014
The festival is scheduled for the first two weeks of April 2014. Since its inauguration in 2007, the event has increasingly drawn attention from the visitors worldwide. This year, the entry tickets for the festival are fixed at INR 50 for adults and INR 20 for children. Like every year, the picturesque exhibition of more than two million tulip blooms is ready to astound the tourists.
The Venue
The park, which was previously known as Siraj Bagh Cheshmashahi enjoys the captivating backdrop of snow-capped Zabarwan Mountain Range. Located close to the iconic Dal Lake, it boasts of remarkable beauty that leaves every single visitor bowled over. The festival will be a part of the Spring Festival, celebrated at other must-visit locations like Dachigam National Park, Royal Springs Golf Course and Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre in Srinagar.
The Activities
Exploring the rows of enchanting tulips is indeed the top highlight of the festival. In addition, you will be a spectator to the cultural events which include amazing folk music and dance performances. Kashmiri handicrafts and cuisines that are well-accepted by the tourists are other striking exhibits during the celebrations. Those seeking adventures can participate in boat racing and kayaking at Dal Lake and Nigeen Lake.
Srinagar Airport is the best access point to visit the festival. Well-maintained roads connect cities as far as New Delhi to Srinagar. Accommodations ranging from luxury hotels and houseboats to budget guesthouses and bed & breakfast can be booked across the city.
