Ladakh Pangong lake tour takes you to Jammu and Kashmir, the northern most state of the Republic of India. It lies between the Kunlun mountain range in the north and the main Great Himalayas to the south, inhabited by people of Indo-Aryan and Tibetan descent. It is one of the most sparsely populated regions in Jammu and Kashmir.

Pangong Tso Lake is situated at a height of about 4,350 m (14,270 ft). It is 134 km (83 mi) long and extends from India to Tibet. 60% of the length of the lake lies in China. The lake is 5 km (3.1 mi) wide at its broadest point. During winter the lake freezes completely, despite being saline water.

Itinerary Details

Day by Day itineraryDay 1: Arrival Leh

Arrive Leh airport and transfer to hotel. On arrival, check in at hotel. In the evening time short walk around Leh bazaar. Dinner & Overnight stay in Leh.

Day 2: Leh

After breakfast proceed for full day excursion to the famous monasteries, it is interesting to visit early in the morning to enjoy the praying ceremony at Thiksey monastery and continue drive to Hemis monastery which is one of the most famous monastery of the Ladakh region. While returning back to Leh visit to Shey Palace. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 3: Leh - Alchi - Uletokpo [75 Kms]

After an early breakfast drive to Uletokpo camping which is one of the most beautiful camping in the Ladakh region on the way visit Spituk monastery which is just 5 kms from Leh town. Alchi monastery is the only monastery in the Ladakh on flat ground. In afternoon time reach Uletokpo. In the evening time enjoy sitting on the bank of river coming down from the Ridzong side. Enjoy dinner & Overnight stay at Camp.

Day 4: Uietokpo - Lamayuru - Leh [180 Kms]

After breakfast on time continue drive to Lamayuru via Khaltsi. From here drive 22 kms to reach Lamayuru. It the oldest and spectacularly set Lamayuru monastery founded in the 10th Century. Visit the monastery. After lunch drive back to Leh which will take about 4-5 hrs drive, on the way back stop at magnetic hill. Dinner & Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 5: Leh - Khardongla Pass – Leh [85 Kms]

Enjoy breakfast and proceed for full day excursion to Khardongla pass which is the highest motorable pass in the word 5600 Mtrs and has been recorded in the Gunnies Book of world records. At the top enjoy the nature beauty of snow capped mountain. In the evening back to hotel for dinner & Overnight stay.

Day 6: Leh - Pangong Lake – Leh [290 Kms]

Start early morning drive to Pangong Lake. En-route enjoy the beautiful panoramic view of the villages below the pass. After crossing the pass halt for picnic, lunch at Tsoltak. Arrive Durbuk and from there a short drive to the western shore of the lake. One can enjoy landscape in the back drop of the lake. This famous blue brackish Lake of Pangong is 5-6 Kms wid and over 144 Kms long with half of its running the other side of the "INDO CHINA BORDER". The scenery of this beauty is unforgettable. In the late afternoon drive back to Leh. Dinner & Overnight stay.

Day 7: Departure - Leh - Delhi

After breakfast transfer in time to the airport to connect onward destination flight.

Thanks to Waytoindia for 10 day in Rajasthan- Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur, Mount Abu and Ahmedabad. Everything from pickup from Jaipur airport to drop at Ahmedabad airport was very smooth. The hotels booked in Jaipur and Udaipur were amazing. In Jaisalmer the camel ride and Jeep safari though a bit expensive was a good experience.
