Day 2: Baidyanath Jyotirlinga VisitHave breakfast and get ready for Vaidyanath Jyotirlinga live darshan at the temple. The legend behind the temple and its Lingam states that Ravana, in order to strengthen his kingdom at Lanka, went to Lord Shiva and prayed him to accompany him to Lanka. Shiva blessed him with a Lingam and asked him to carry it to his kingdom without taking any break or placing the Lingam on ground on the way. Lord Ganapati, on the request of various deities and to stop Ravana from carrying Lingam to Lanka, tricked him on the way and placed the Lingam on ground. Ravana was unable to move it and it is the same Lingam that you would worship at Deoghar.
The temple opens at 04:00 a.m. and closes at 09:00 p.m. (it also closes between 03:30 p.m. and 06:00 p.m.). Pray at the temple and admire its lotus-shape structure. You may also visit 20 more shrines dedicated to different Hindu deities within the premises. Get back to the hotel for rest and return in the evening to attend Shringar Pooja.
